La Douceur de Siam

One early morning, the perfumer was sitting by the river Chao-Phraya. The sky was turning into many different colors over the Temple of Dawn. The wind was blowing softly through the tropical garden. She had the impression that a Siamese Princess could be passing by any moment. She was ready to be impressed by her beauty, her elegance, her style. Her heart was expecting for a miracle to happen.

With La Douceur de Siam she tried to communicate the sweetness of old Thailand’s slow pace of life. She combined three main floral notes to evoke the scent of a tropical garden during the "quiet hours" : May Rose, Champaca and Frangipani. As the Princess would walk through the garden, her silk dress would have been perfumed with Chalut Bark, a vanillic wood used to scent precious garments in the Old Days. She incorporated the latter in her composition, further enhancing the base with Cinnamon, Vanilla, Ambergris and Mysore Sandalwood, thus completing her olfactory tribute to the aromatic heritage of Siam.
