Moonlight in Chiangmai was created to address the feeling of yearning for beloved people and places, with the wish to provide solace and radiant optimism. Inspired by one of the perfumer's fondest memories of Thailand, her birthplace, she wanted to express the unique sensorial experience of viewing the breathtaking city of Chiangmai and its temple of Doi Suthep from the top of a nearby hill, under a full moon that is reflected on the gilded temple. That "golden moon" became her guide, with its light encountering the floating paper lanterns that illuminates the Chedi and its Royal Umbrellas.
To convey the aromatic sensation of the nocturnal, misty, tropical forest that surrounds Chiangmai, and the city’s gleaming beauty under the softly diffused moonlight, she composed an elaborate Thai Teak Wood Accord comprising many elements (Patchouli, Cedarwood, Vetiver, Sandalwood, Pinewood, Tonka Bean). To that, she added elating citruses (Yuzu, White Grapefruit), night-blooming Jasmine and Ylang-Ylang, and sweet resins and spices (Nutmeg, Myrrh, Benzoin), completing an olfactive landscape of serene sensuality.
