When the perfumer was young, she was profoundly impressed by the god Airewana (presented in the form of an elephant), who was responsible for bringing healing waters to earth. Over the years, she observed many people coming from all over the world to pray in a shrine very close to my home. She always perceived the elephant as an animal full of compassion and friendship for us, humans. Erawan ultimately brings to my mind an idyllic place offering calm and peace of mind to all that visit it.
She chose to open the perfume with soft, green notes of tonic Petitgrain, herbal Clary Sage and honeyesque Liatris, that give way to a highly natural base of Oakmoss, Cedarwood and Haitian Vetiver. What makes Erawan truly memorable, if not instantly recognizable, is the combination of Hay Absolute and Madagascar Vanilla, which creates an abstract, gourmand-like impression of cereal, cocoa and sweet tobacco.
