Roja Dove’s thought for Risqué was a perfume that seemed tailored and disciplined – but as it develops it starts to show its overtly sensual base, which gets warmer, darker and more overt with each breath. A scent is a green floral chypre that will send shivers of pleasure down the spine of any classic chypre lover. A radiant, green-yellow bergamot pulses through the opening, bright and muscular. This is the amuse-bouche of any good chypre, that stinging slap of citric acid that presages the dark mossiness of the entrée. Stemmy green hyacinth and a dry, hay-like chamomile weave in and out of the inky oak moss, creating a tightly-woven forest floor of green, herbal, mossy hues. Further in, the dappled sunshine of the forest parts to reveal a floral heart of rose and jasmine, made faintly animalic by a lick of civet.
